Our steward will pick you up from your designated hotel in Dubai or other Emirates and will drive you safely and in comfort to Al Ain in a luxurious air-conditioned car. The 80 minutes’ drive will give you the chance to catch some amazing glimpses of the desert and green patches of land. Al Ain is also called the Garden City, an oasis town located next to the Omani town of Buraimi. You will arrive in Al Ain eager to go and explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Your first stop is Al Ain’s famous camel market, a wonderful and bustling place in which to immerse yourself in traditional, authentic Arab culture. This Camel Souk is attracting breeders and buyers from all over the UAE and is a one-of-a-kind experience offering a closer look at the animal that enjoys a special place in Emirati heritage. Camel trading is taking place in the morning, however, it’s usually possible to see the herded animals all day long.
Your next stop is the Oasis, a beautiful green haven nourished by an ancient irrigation system. Take a walk through the shaded pathways and reconnect with nature in the lush greenery of Al Ain Oasis which spreads across 1,200 hectares. As you stroll in the shadow of the majestic palm trees, indulge in the sounds of nature, from the gentle babbling of the stream to the twittering of exotic birds flying by. Benches line the pathways if you desire to take breaks from walking or soak in the moment. If you prefer more activity on your tour, you can rent a bicycle or ask for an electric buggy to help navigate you around the labyrinth of paths (optional and additional cost).
After being filled with energy from the Oasis walk, you will visit Al Ain Palace which is an important historical site as it was home to the Founding Father of the UAE, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who lived here with his family until the late sixties when he moved to Abu Dhabi.
The palace and private residences provide insights into the lives and culture of both the ruling family and the community until the country’s transformation after the discovery of petroleum.
You conclude your heritage tour with a visit to Al Jahili is one of the largest forts in the UAE. It was established in 1891 around Al Jahili Oasis for the protection of palm farmers. Later it was seized by the former Omani coastal scout for its operation to protect the mountain lanes and to preserve the inter-tribal peace. This tour will let you learn and understand the rich history of the region.
Packed with unforgettable memories and knowledge of the UAE you will arrive safely back in your hotel in Dubai or wherever you wish to be dropped-off.
